Village adoption team of Agricultural College, Warangal visited various muskmelon fields of Damera village on 13.04.2022 and observed severe infestation of fruit fly which is leading to huge loss to the farmers. Dr. Ch. Anusha, Asst. Prof (Entomology) explained about various management practices for control of fruit fly in muskmelon i.e. , affected fruits should be collected and destroyed and harvesting of fruits to be done before ripening. For monitoring and mass trapping of fruit fly, a method demonstration on erection of 4 fruit fly traps was conducted in Sri. E. Ramesh field. It is recommended to spray Malathion @ 2ml/lit, Carbaryl 3g/lit or poison baiting has to be done by mixing malathion 100ml and sugar/jaggery 100 g in 1 litre water which can be distributed in earthen lids. Smt. L. Suhasini, Asst. Prof (Horticulture) has recommended mulching practice to increase quality and yield in muskmelon. Dr. G. Santosh Kumar, Dr. Ch. Anusha, Dr. G. Swathi and Smt. L. Suhasini and farmers have participated in the programme.
